MANDATORY CLASSES
We tailor our teaching to match psychophysical abilities of young people with moderate and severe intellectual disabilities. A tutor performs multispecialist assessment of pupil’s functioning which is the basis for individual educational and therapeutic programme drawn up to enhance pupil’s development as well as individual and social activity.
PERSONAL AND SOCIAL FUNCTIONING
The classes enable our pupils to consolidate their knowledge and skills acquired during earlier stages of their education as well as master new ones. We teach our pupils about the surrounding social, natural and technical environment in the scope accessible for them. They learn how to be resourceful and coexist in a group of peers, in a family and society. We shape their speaking skills to enable their communication with the surrounding world as well as improve their learning techniques. We learn about culture, our regional traditions and institutions. We take part in cultural and recreational events to shape our skills and habits of proper behaviour in public places.
TECHNICAL SKILLS
Technical skills learnt by our pupils include both, arts (felting, pasting, decoupage, quilling, scrapbooking, painting, pottery) and technology (elements of carpentry, tailoring, jewellery making). The classes are aimed at reinforcement of manual skills and enhancing artistic creativity. Our pupils learn how to use simple tools and perform simple technical operations. During the course they make themselves familiar with various techniques of work. Under supervision of their teacher pupils make various decorative items and everyday articles that are often sold during our school sales. Works created by our pupils are exhibited at different art competitions and shows.
COMPUTER SKILLS
The course is aimed at teaching basic computer skills. Our pupils learn how to use basic Windows applications (Word text editor, Paint graphics utility) and practise the ability of creative use of resources available on the Internet. They work with educational software that enables them to develop and shape necessary skills and to acquire and consolidate new knowledge.

Floristry and gardening classes are held both, inside classrooms and on a special allotment outside the building. Our pupils can experience contact with nature during the course. They can find out directly about stages of planting and growth of vegetables and flowers. They can also experience working in the garden with professional gardening equipment. They learn about responsibility for their own plants and regular nurturing works. Moreover, the classes consolidate their knowledge about the surrounding natural environment (useful in everyday life) and shape their ecological habits. The pupils also learn how to cooperate in a group.

We organize joint classes to integrate pupils from different groups and create situations which stimulate cooperation between pupils, support for weaker colleagues by empathic behaviours and assertiveness leading to fair play behaviours. Our school houses a gymnasium, a room with equipment for aerobic exercises, a gym with home gym system and other equipment. Our school grounds can boast a sports field with artificial turf and extensive grassy area for recreational activities, long jump run-up and the circle and stop board for the shot put.
